Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2008 im Fachbereich Theologie - Historische Theologie, Kirchengeschichte, Note: 2,0, Alice-Salomon Hochschule Berlin , Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Ich habe mich ganz bewusst für das Thema „Die Anfänge des Mönchtums in Ägypten“ entschieden, da ich mich mit dieser Materie bis zum Schreiben der Hausarbeit nicht auskannte und es mein Interesse geweckt hat. Schon oft habe ich mir die Frage gestellt, wie man sich dafür entscheiden kann, sein gesamtes Leben aufzugeben und es ganz nach Gott auszurichten. Wo liegt der Ursprung des Mönchtums? Leben Mönche nur in ihrem Kloster oder dürfen sie auch den Kontakt zur Außenwelt halten? Wer oder was veranlasst sie dazu in ein Kloster zu ziehen? Wie entstand das Mönchtum? Können sie sich dort zurückziehen oder ist alles auf die Gemeinschaft ausgerichtet? Generell würde mich interessieren, wie der Alltag eines Mönchs aussieht. Wie ist es mit dem Empfang von Besuch im Kloster? Gab es früher schon Frauenklöster oder ähnliche Lebensformen, die deren der Mönche gleicht? Diese Fragen gehen mir durch den Kopf, wenn ich das Wort „Mönch“ höre.
Um alle diese und weitere Fragen zu klären, werde ich als erstes bei meiner Hausarbeit auf die vermutlichen Ursprünge der christlichen Askese eingehen, wo ich die Essener und Therapeuten genauer untersuchen werde. Dann gehe ich näher auf die christliche Askese ein und komme schließlich zu den Ursprüngen des Mönchtums in Ägypten. Desweiteren gehe ich noch auf die Entwicklung des Mönchtums in anderen östlichen Ländern ein, wie Palästina, Syrien, Kleinasien und insbesondere Konstantinopel. Dort sind unabhängig und neben dem ägyptischen Mönchtum klösterliche Lebensformen entstanden, auf die ich jedoch nur kurz eingehe, um anzudeuten, dass das Mönchtum nicht nur in Ägypten Fuß gefasst hat. Abschließend werde ich alles für mich reflektieren und so zu einem Fazit zu gelangen, in dem auch meine eigene Meinung deutlich wird und welche ich mir durch das Lesen der im Literaturverzeichnis angegebenen Bücher, gebildet habe. Bis dahin will ich mich auch mit meinen Anfangsfragen auseinandergesetzt haben und eine Antwort darauf wissen.
