Rudnigger war ein großartiger Beobachter, er hatte sein Ohr ganz nah am Menschen. Aus den alltäglichen Gesprächen und Begegnungen mit ihnen schuf er seine amüsanten Gedichte und Geschichten. Bekannt und beliebt war er, weit über die Landesgrenzen hinaus, als Sprecher von Hörspielen im Kärntner Radio und auf Schallplatte, vor allem aber als Autor. Die meisten seiner Bücher, großteils in Mundartreimen verfasst, sind seit dem Jahr 1952 („Gesetzt den Fall") bei Carinthia bzw. Styriabooks erschienen. Eine Auswahl seiner Werke findet sich in dieser Neuauflage wieder. Ergänzt wird der vorliegende Sammelband durch farbige Illustrationen, die ebenfalls von Wilhelm Rudnigger stammen.
