So beschrieben die Abgesandten des Großfürsten Vladimir von der Kiever Rus' im Jahre 988 den Gottesdienst in der großen Kathedrale der Hagia Sophia in Konstantinopel. Die Wirkung des Gottesdienstes war so stark, dass durch ihn der Großführst Vladimir zur Annahm des orthodoxen Glaubens veranlasst war.
Doch besonders in der heutigen globalisierten Welt fragen sich spätestens seit dem Griechenland- oder Russlandurlaub viele Menschen aus dem westlichen Raum was das besondere am orthodoxen Glauben ist oder was der orthodoxe Glaube überhaupt bedeutet?
Die Verfasserin versucht daher in dieser Arbeit auf folgende Fragen einzugehen: Was bedeutet orthodoxes Christentum und was ist das Besondere, das den orthodoxen Glauben und den orthodoxen Gottesdienst ausmacht? In wieweit lassen sich die Ursprünge des orthodoxen Glaubens historisch zurückverfolgen?
Die Gewichtung dieser Arbeit liegt jedoch auf dem orthodoxen Gottesdienst, da dieser als wichtige Grundlage des orthodoxen Glaubens verstanden wird.
Eine Ausarbeitung weiterer Inhalte zu diesem Thema ist jedoch in dieser Arbeit nicht möglich, da der Rahmen der Arbeit dies nicht zulässt [...]
