Rui Ramos é investigador principal do Instituto de Ciências Sociais da Universidade de Lisboa, onde ensina nos cursos de mestrado em Política Comparada e de doutoramento em Ciência Política, e professor convidado na Universidade Católica Portuguesa (Lisboa). Licenciado em História pela Universidade Nova de Lisboa e doutorado em Ciência Política pela Universidade de Oxford, é autor de vários livros, entre os quais A Segunda Fundação (1890-1926), volume VI da História de Portugal dirigida por José Mattoso (1994); João Franco e o Fracasso do Reformismo Liberal (2001); e D. Carlos (2006). Foi um dos coordenadores do Dicionário Biográfico Parlamentar – A Monarquia Constitucional, (2006). Em 2002, recebeu a distinção de Burgen Scholar concedida pela Academia Europeia.

Bernardo Vasconcelos e Sousa é professor na Faculdade de Ciências Sociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa, onde tem leccionado no âmbito da licenciatura e do mestrado em História Medieval e de cujo Instituto de Estudos Medievais foi presidente. Entre as suas publicações destacam-se Os Pimentéis. Percursos de uma Linhagem da Nobreza Medieval Portuguesa (Séculos XIII-XIV), 2000 (Prémio Júlio de Melo Fogaça, da Academia das Ciências de Lisboa) e D. Afonso IV (1291-1357), 2005. Coordenou a obra Ordens Religiosas em Portugal. Das Origens a Trento – Guia Histórico, 2.ª ed., 2006 (Prémio A. de Almeida Fernandes de História Medieval Portuguesa, 2006). Foi subdirector do Instituto dos Arquivos Nacionais/Torre do Tombo (1996-1998) e seu director (1998-2001). É membro da Sociedade Portuguesa de Estudos Medievais, Académico Correspondente da Academia Portuguesa da História e membro titular da Académie Internationale de Généalogie.

Nuno Gonçalo Monteiro é investigador coordenador do Instituto de Ciências Sociais da Universidade de Lisboa e professor convidado do ISCTE (Lisboa). Doutorado em História Moderna pela F.C.S.H/Universidade Nova de Lisboa e agregado em História pelo ISCTE, realizou conferências e comunicações em vários países, tendo sido professor visitante em universidades espanholas, francesas e brasileiras. Entre as suas publicações mais recentes, contam-se O Crepúsculo dos Grandes. A Casa e o Património da Aristocracia em Portugal (1750-1834) (2003), D. José. Na sombra de Pombal (2006) e Elites e Poder. Entre o Antigo Regime e o Liberalismo (2007).
