Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2011 im Fachbereich Pädagogik - Heilpädagogik, Sonderpädagogik, Note: 1,3, Katholische Hochschule für Sozialwesen Berlin, Veranstaltung: Historische und wissenschaftliche Grundlagen der Heilpädagogik, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Der Begriff „Euthanasie“ steht für „Erleichterung des Sterbens und beabsichtigte Herbeiführung des Todes bei unheilbar Kranken“. Dieses Fremdwort ist seit dem 18. Jahrhundert gebräuchlich und hat seinen Ursprung im Griechischen, dort steht es für „schöner, leichter Tod“. Entgegen seiner ursprünglichen Bedeutung wurde „Euthanasie“ im Nationalsozialismus in Zusammenhang mit der „Vernichtung unwerten Lebens“ gebracht und zum politischen Programm.

In der vorliegenden Hausarbeit beschäftige ich mich mit der „Landesheilanstalt Eichberg“, sie ist heute unter dem Namen „vitos Rheingau“ bekannt. Ich habe dieses Beispiel gewählt, da ich 19 Jahre in circa einem Kilometer Entfernung lebte, dieses Beispiel lag mir im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes nahe.

Zunächst möchte ich kurz auf den Begriff „Euthanasie“ eingehen, bevor ich die „Kindereuthanasie“ im Dritten Reich näher beschreibe. Anhand der ehemaligen Landesheilanstalt Eichberg werde ich die Kinderversuche und -tötungen behandeln, sowie den „Eichbergprozess“ nach Kriegsende.
