Es ging stetig aufwärts, sodass zu Beginn des Jahres 2008 die Höchstmarke von ca. 850 US-Dollar aus den 80er Jahren des letzten Jahrhunderts überschritten wurde. Seit dem steigt der Goldpreis unaufhaltsam und eilt von einem Hoch zum nächsten. Spätestens seit dem die Massenmedien wieder über diese Entwicklung berichten, ist Gold verstärkt ins Bewusstsein vieler Menschen getreten.

In dieser Hausarbeit soll systematisch untersucht werden, welche Einflussfaktoren auf die Nachfrage und auf das Angebot von Gold einwirken und wie sie den Goldpreis verändern. Gold gilt insbesondere in Zeiten von weltweiten Unruhen und Krisen als sicherer Hafen für Investoren. Diese und weitere Punkte sollen systematisch untersucht werden. Die Gründe für den aktuellen Anstieg sind sehr vielfältig und es wirken immer mehrere Ursachen auf den Goldpreis ein, sodass eine abschließende Beantwortung der Frage nach dem Warum an dieser Stelle nicht möglich ist. Es sollen jedoch einige Punkte sowohl auf der Nachfrageseite als auch auf der Angebotseite erläutert werden, die Einfluss auf die Entwicklung des Goldpreises haben. Abgerundet wird das Thema durch einige Korrelationen, deren Entwicklung vielfach mit dem Goldpreis in Zusammenhang gebracht werden, jedoch nicht Nachfrage oder Angebot zugeordnet werden können. Den Abschluss bildet ein Ausblick. Dieser versucht die gewonnen Erkenntnisse mit Expertenaussagen in Verbindung zu setzten, um auf die zukünftige Entwicklung des Goldpreises zu schließen.
