Sondersammelgebieten von Universitätsbibliotheken und wissenschaftlichen
Informationsquellen im Internet zusammen. Die Fachinformationen werden auf einer
Webseite versammelt und den Nutzern der Virtuellen Fachbibliothek präsentiert. Beim
Aufbau von Virtuellen Fachbibliotheken wurden die Bedürfnisse von Zielgruppen
berücksichtigt. Nutzer von Virtuellen Fachbibliotheken sind vor allem Studenten und
Wissenschaftler.
Bei der Virtuellen Fachbibliothek Anglo-Amerikanischer Kulturkreis (Vlib-AAC) der
Niedersächsischen Staats- und Universitätsbibliothek Göttingen (SUB) liegen die
Schwerpunkte in den Fachrichtungen Anglistik/Amerikanistik und
englische/nordamerikanische Geschichte und Kultur. Es wird auf Ressourcen aus dem
Sondersammelgebiet der SUB Göttingen und Fachinformationen im Internet
zurückgegriffen.
In dieser Arbeit soll zuerst der Begriff Virtuelle Fachbibliothek veranschaulicht werden,
auf die Entwicklungsgeschichte von Virtuellen Fachbibliotheken in Deutschland im
allgemeinen eingegangen werden und verwandte Informationsplattformen im Internet wie
hybride Bibliotheken und Subject Gateways erläutert werden.
Im weiteren Verlauf der Ausführungen sollen Entwicklungsvorschläge der Deutschen
Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) für die überregionale Literaturversorgung bis zum Jahr
2015 sowie eine Umfrage aus dem Jahr 2003 zur Nutzung von Sondersammelgebieten
ausgewertet werden.
Schließlich soll auf die Bereitstellung und Verfügbarkeit von Informationsangeboten der
Vlib-AAC näher eingegangen werden. Aus der Analyse der Informationsangebote wird
eine Einschätzung des Standes erfolgen, auf dem sich die Vlib-AAC aktuell befindet. Aus
der Einschätzung und Bewertung der Nutzerumfrage, der aktuellen Informationsangebote
der Vlib-AAC wird aus den früheren Entwicklungstendenzen und dem aktuellen Stand der
Vlib-AAC ein analytischer Gesamteindruck gegeben.
